Vocal performance opportunities are provided in all Junior, Middle and Senior Secondary Classroom Music and Music Extension courses at Kedron State High School. We also have a fantastic extra-curricular vocal program comprising of two choirs and offer small group vocal lessons.
Students have the opportunity to participate in Kedron Singers. Students in years 8 – 12, who has shown at least one year commitment to Kedron Singers can then audition for a place in vocal lessons. Pending availability in our vocal program, year 7 students will be offered an opportunity to audition when they commence in term 1.
Further to this, students can audition for Kedron's award winning vocal ensemble, Kedron Acapella after one year of commitment to vocal lessons.
Kedron Singers
Kedron SHS is a large, energetic ensemble that proudly has over 150 students attending rehearsals each week. The choir are educated in the fundamentals of good vocal health and technique and are exposed to contemporary, traditional and gospel repertoire. Kedron Singers are renowned for being an enthusiastic, vibrant group that all come together to share their love of singing.
Kedron Acapella
Kedron Acapella is an auditioned small vocal group, focused on presenting jazz, musical theatre and contemporary repertoire to audiences through local and national tours, in competitions and at festivals. They were finalists in the prestigious state-wide event, Choral Fanfare in 2019, achieving Gold at their regional heat.
Vocal Program
The Kedron State High School Vocal Program invites students to participate in small group lessons throughout the week in regularly timetabled classes, aimed at developing vocal technique, part-singing and solo repertoire. This is an auditioned component of our program with limited vacancies. Students are encouraged at the beginning of each year to audition for entry and are placed on a waiting list if no vacancies are available.
