At Kedron State High
School we firmly believe that our core business is your students’ learning. We
strive to meet the needs of our learners in a variety of ways.
In years 7 to 10 we differentiate the learning in the core subject areas of
English, Maths, Science and History based on your student’s demonstrated
ability in the subject as well as his/her literacy and numeracy skills.
In extension classes we focus on extending the students through activities such
as the implementation of higher order thinking skills. Students cover the core
work as outlined in the national curriculum but the approach of the teacher is
altered to suit the specific needs of this group.
In mainstream classes the students are completing the national curriculum and
your student’s core teachers have strategies in place designed to help your
student improve.
The Accelerated Learning
program is run by a team of teachers tailoring learning to students learning
well above their peer level. Involvement in this program is by application.
Please refer to Mr Ryan Wilson at school or via email: rwils9@eq.edu.au.
Our co-teaching classes focus on literacy development for students, including
students from learning support and English as an Additional Language or
Dialect (EALD). Again the teachers’ focus is on assisting their students
to meet the core demands of the national curriculum with additional scaffolding
and support.
If you have any questions please contact Mr Kiss, Deputy Principal Learning and
Teaching at the school or via email: skiss2@eq.edu.au.
