First Nations Education
We respectfully acknowledge the Jagera and Turrbal People, as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our school is built. In this place, we aim to create a culturally safe environment where all students and staff strive to shine through:
- Learning with and from each other and exploring the shared histories and journeys of all Australians;
- Actively contributing to the whole school community, with a particular focus on the inclusion and celebration of First Nations students, families and wider community;
- Valuing, respecting and celebrating First Nations peoples' contributions in shaping a shared sense of national unity and identity by providing authentic and open recognition of past and continuing First Nations histories, traditions and culture in a creative and innovative manner;
- Committing to respectfully include First Nations peoples' ways of learning into the curriculum and the broader school community.
To support our First Nations students Kedron SHS invests in providing a First Nations Liaison Officer who provides cultural and academic support for students inside and outside the classroom.
The school is currently in the process of developing a Reconciliation Action Plan which will guide the schools actions to ensure a strengthening of the existing strong and inclusive Kedron SHS community into the future.
