Vocational Education Qualifications (VET) provides pathways for all students, particularly those seeking further education and training, and those seeking employment-specific skills.

Kedron State High School is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO:30318) and has industry qualified teachers who deliver a range of qualifications (as school subjects) to assist our students in their chosen pathways. Kedron State High School currently offers the following courses:

 

ICT20120 - Certificate II in Applied Digital Technologies

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for individuals to safely perform foundation digital literacy tasks using a personal computer and a range of software applications and digital devices.

  

BSB10120 - Certificate I in Workplace Skills 

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have not yet entered the workforce, and are developing the necessary skills in preparation for work. They may undertake a variety of simple tasks under close supervision.

This qualification provides a range of introductory skills and knowledge to provide individuals with an understanding of the business environment.

 

BSB20120 - Certificate II in Workplace Skills 

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of entry-level Business Services job roles.

This qualification also reflects the role of individuals who have not yet entered the workforce, and are developing the necessary skills in preparation for work.

These individuals carry out a range of basic procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require self-management and technology skills. They perform a range of mainly routine tasks using limited practical skills and fundamental operational knowledge in a defined context.

 

SIT20316 - Certificate II in Hospitality

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who have a defined and limited range of hospitality operational skills and basic industry knowledge. They are involved in mainly routine and repetitive tasks and work under direct supervision.  This qualification provides a pathway to work in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops. 

Possible job titles include: bar attendant, café attendant, catering assistant, food and beverage attendant, front office assistant, porter, room attendant.

PSP20218 - Certificate II in Auslan

This qualification provides signing skills to communicate in Auslan on familiar and routine matters. Communication may take place in any situation including personal, public, social, employment and educational domains.  The qualification aligns to an adaptation, for sign languages, of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), A2: Basic User.

This is an Auslan signer who can:

understand sentences and frequently-used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment)

communicate about simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters

describe in simple terms aspects of his or her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

The volume of learning for a Certificate II is typically 0.5 to 1 year.


FSK20119 - Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways

This qualification is designed for individuals who require further foundation skills development to prepare for workforce entry or vocational training pathways.  It is suitable for individuals who require:

  • a pathway to employment or vocational training
  • reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and learning skills at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) Level 3
  • entry level digital literacy and employability skills
  • a vocational training and employment plan

Foundation Skills Training Package qualifications may not be listed as an entry requirement for vocational qualifications.
