Most of Kedron State High School's International Students live in homestays arranged by Kedron's International Students and Homestay Coordinator. All homestay providers caring for students under 18 must have a "Blue Card" showing that there is no record of behaviour that could be harmful to children. The homestay coordinator can provide you with the correct form to use to apply for a blue card or the correct linking form if you already hold a valid blue card.
When selecting a host family for our students, we look for a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere. While it is important that all homes are clean and adequately equipped, homestays vary widely according to age, size, style, and distance from school. Host families may consist of two parents, a single parent, young children, teenage children or no children. Each family has a unique character and the Homestay Coordinator tries to match students to the families that will best suit their needs.
Kedron SHS's International Student Program staff regularly visit our homestays and meet with the students to check that they are receiving adequate care and supervision. Students are able to contact the International Student and Homestay Coordinator at all times for emergencies.
