D/deaf and Hard of Hearing:

Kedron SHS is the main high school on the Northside of Brisbane to offer specialist staff to support D/deaf students.  For students who are D/deaf or have a hearing loss, there are a number of avenues of support available, facilitating equal access to both curriculum and extra curricula aspects of the Kedron SHS community. Kedron's school vision is we believe in a school where all students succeed and our mission is to shape the next generation of learners and leaders.

Auslan:

As a way of promoting Deaf culture and Deaf language, Auslan is offered as a LOTE (Languages Other Than English) choice.

Kedron is one of the few schools in Queensland to offer this program.  We are proud to deliver this program and always have committed and enthusiastic group of student participants.  Year 10 students have the opportunity to complete a TAFE Certificate ll in Auslan Studies.

We have a team of professionals that cater specifically for the Deaf and HoH students. These include Teachers of the Deaf (ToD), Educational Interpreters (EIs) and Auslan Language Models (ALMs). We also work with external organisations when required such as Australian Hearing. Our team also provide captioning services, speech to text and note-takers to ensure that the Deaf and HoH students have full access to both Unit and Mainstream subjects.
