Science DepartmentKedron's Science Department, has recently undergone a half-million dollar upgrade in facilities, is proud of its traditional academic approach and its academic record.
Physically, the department has four science laboratories in the junior school and dedicated Biology, Chemistry and Physics laboratories in the senior school. These are very well supported by preparation rooms, equipment and excellent support staff. Facilities are such that all science classes are conducted in our well-equipped laboratories. The dedicated science staff are all either specialists in their own scientific fields or are combined science-maths teachers. Staffing is such that students can access out of hours tutorial assistance in all of the sciences. Courses are very much practically based, with field excursions and practical, hands-on activities forming the backbone of our courses. More information about individual courses or tutorials can be accessed by linking to Subject Handbook or Senior Student Handbook or Tutorials. The Department boasts a much higher than state average retention rate of students into the senior sciences as well as excellent academic results in the curriculum offerings of Junior Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance. Many of Kedron's science graduates have gone on to very distinguished careers in science and science-related fields. Parents are always welcome to discuss any aspects of their students work with science staff in either C or LA staffrooms. |
