Homestays PDF Print E-mail
Most of our International students live in homestays arranged by Kedron’s Homestay Coordinator. All homestay providers caring for students under 18 must have a “Blue Card” showing that there is no record of behaviour that could be harmful to children.
When selecting a host family for our students, we look for a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere. While it is important that all homes are clean and adequately equipped, homestays vary widely according to age, size, style, and distance from school   Host families also differ greatly from families with two parents, single parent, young children, teenage children or no children. Just as all families differ in how they live together, so do homestays. The Homestay Coordinator tries to match students to a family that will suit their needs.
Our Homestay Coordinator visits the homes and checks that students are receiving adequate care and supervision.  Both the Homestay Coordinator and the International Student Coordinator are accessible to students at all times for assistance in personal matters.
 

Travelling to school
Our homestay providers choose to host international students because they are interested in other cultures and want to share the Australian way of life. Another great benefit of living with an Australian family is the opportunity to practice and obtain assistance with English speaking skills. Many students keep in touch with their host families after they leave.
