Business and IT Department PDF Print E-mail

Business and IT Department

The Business and Information Technology Department consists of a number of teachers who have a wide range of knowledge and experience in both middle and senior school Business and IT subjects.

The staff have access to the school's computer laboratories. These laboratories all have ceiling mounted data projectors which provide a wonderful means for students to showcase their work. Interactive whiteboards have been installed in 2 labs and in the Business classroom.

Middle School Curriculem
In Year 8 students study a foundation unit which is designed to ensure that they are equipped with the skills they need to be more productive in all their other subject areas.

In Years 9 and 10 students can further develop their skills in both information technology and business by choosing one or more subjects which focus on introducing them to business understanding and developing their computer skills and applications, including spreadsheeting. These can be explored further by clicking on the link to the Subject Handbook. Education Queensland has introduced Essential Learnings and the middle school curriculum is reviewed annually to reflect departmental requirements. Year 10 IT studies centre around the completion of a Certificate I in IT. Successful completion allows students to gain up to 2 credits on their QCE.

Senior School Curriculum

In year 11 and 12 students have the choice of the following subjects depending on the direction they might like to follow in their future studies or employment.
- Accounting, Business Communication Technology (OP and vocational) or Business Studies (vocational)
- Information Processing and Technology (OP) or Information Communication Technology (vocational)
More information about these subjects is available through the Senior Student Handbook.

Parents are always welcome to discuss the progress of their son or daughter with the Business and IT staff who are located in the Lower B Block Staffroom, phone 3630 3312.
